When the wireless industry faces interoperability problems or glitches in applications, he said it often jumps to the conclusion that another standard is needed.

A key committee of the World Intellectual Property Organization produced a draft text for a treaty that would allow copyright protection over broadcast signals for 50 years, more than twice the time currently allowed in most countries.
