Next Step June 8, 2001 I've always maintained a somewhat impersonal face to the website with only the occasional short note being posted on the front page. So it's no surprise that probably every reader had no I idea that I was spending time thinking about the future of the site. With all of that in mind, I decided to close the site in my letter on Monday that included a request for feedback from readers about my decision. It seems very odd in retrospect to have not done this before closing the site, but I somehow failed to recognize that there's smart people reading the website and newsletter that are more than happy to share some thoughts about my situation. Reading all the letters and talking over the phone with a few readers, I'm of course very proud of the two and half year run of the site, but I don't want to step away from the site without providing this last review: I'll explain my situation and what it will probably take to keep the site going.
